4. UK Sanctions Against 38 Venezuelan citizens - Dominic Raab (UK Foreign Secretary) on 26 April 2021 said:
"Corruption has a corrosive effect as it slows development, drains the wealth of poorer nations and keeps their people trapped in poverty. It poisons the well of democracy.
Global Britain is standing up for democracy, good governance and the rule of law. We are saying to those involved in serious corruption: we will not tolerate you or your dirty money in our country.
The measures are deliberately targeted, so the UK can impose sanctions on corrupt individuals and their enablers, rather than entire nations.
Separately, we attach the latest consolidated general update (30/04/2021) on UK sanctions already in force against 38 Venezuelans. You will see that this provides individual names, positions held, reason for the listing, and the date of the original listing."

BRaVE Group for Venezuela
Dear Colleague,
We would like to draw your attention to the BRaVE Group for Venezuela, which we have just established in order to impress on decision makers the scale of human rights abuses being practised in Venezuela. Our hope is that the British Government, and others, will take a more active role in putting an end, through peaceful means, to the terrible suffering that is taking place in Venezuela.
We would like to keep you abreast of developments in Venezuela by occasionally sending you links to a select few articles of particular interest, culled from the media, NGOs and other sources. You will find links to the first of these articles below. These can also be found on our website (www.bravegroup.info) where we will be assembling an archive of pertinent articles.
As opportunities occur, we will also be organising further meetings, online if necessary, about the human rights situation in Venezuela, following the successful meeting we organised with Canning House last November addressed by Dr Tamara Sujú, an expert on human rights in Venezuela, and Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the Organization of American States.
We hope that we can count on your active support for our work.
With best regards,
Roger Silver
