BRaVE Group for Venezuela: Human Rights Update 25/04/2026

Dear Colleagues,
Some political prisoners have been released, but there is growing unease about the arbitrary nature of implementing the Amnesty Law. And more than 500 political prisoners remain in jail. The Chatham House analysis of how much work is needed before democracy can  function in Venezuela is set out clearly in it’s chapter on Recommendations. Alas, there is little sign of any progress being made on these issues at present.
Best regards,
John Hughes
Convenor
